Harvest description & origin details

Himalayan Solo Garlic, also called Ek Kali Lahsun or Solo Garlic, is one more single-clove garlic we bring to you from the Himalayan belt, but it is not the same batch as our Kashmiri Mountain Garlic (Ek Pothi Lehsun). Many people ask us what is the difference, so we want to explain honestly, in simple words.\r\n\r\nBoth are genuine single-clove garlic, same Allium sativum family, and both grow as one whole solid clove inside a bulb, not many small cloves like normal kitchen garlic. But they are hand-picked from different hill belts of Jammu and Kashmir, at little different altitude and soil, so the bulb size, skin colour and strength of smell come out little different. Our Mountain Garlic comes from the higher, colder snow-line belt, and has a sharper, more pungent smell. This Himalayan Solo Garlic is picked from a slightly wider hill belt, bulb is a touch bigger, skin is golden-white instead of pink-purple, and taste is more mellow and rounded on the tongue, easier for daily use if you find our Mountain Garlic too strong.\r\n\r\nWe keep both as separate products because farm batch, colour and taste genuinely differ, and we do not want to mix two different harvests under one name. Every bulb is supplied whole and unpeeled, with its natural papery cover fully intact, exactly as it comes after cleaning and sun-drying at the farm. No polishing, no chemical treatment, no bleaching is done at any step.\r\n\r\nHow to use: crack the outer shell with your fingers to take out the single clove, then peel the thin inner skin, same way as normal garlic. Because it is a single-clove variety, it is still stronger than ordinary multi-clove garlic, so start with a smaller amount than you are used to. It works well crushed in tadka, chopped in curries and dal, or ground together with walnut for a traditional Doen Chetin chutney. Some people also take one crushed clove raw with warm water on empty stomach, as an old hill habit — this is tradition, not a medical instruction.\r\n\r\nPackaging: we pack Himalayan Solo Garlic in a sealed, food-grade pouch, to keep the bulbs dry and protected while in transit.\r\n\r\nStorage tips: keep the whole, unpeeled bulbs in an open basket, jute bag or mesh pouch, in a cool, dry and airy corner of your kitchen, away from direct sunlight and closed plastic bags. Stored this way, bulbs stay firm and fresh for around 5 to 6 months.

What is Himalayan Solo Garlic

Himalayan Solo Garlic, or Ek Kali Lahsun, is a genuine single-clove garlic — one whole solid clove inside each bulb, instead of the many small cloves you see in normal kitchen garlic. It belongs to the same single-clove family as our Kashmiri Mountain Garlic, but is hand-picked from a different hill belt.

How it is different from our Mountain Garlic

Both are real single-clove garlic, but they come from different farm belts at slightly different altitude. Our Mountain Garlic (Ek Pothi Lehsun) is from the higher, colder snow-line hills, with a pink-purple skin and a sharp, pungent smell. Himalayan Solo Garlic is from a slightly wider hill belt, has a bigger bulb, a golden-white skin, and a more mellow, rounder taste — a good everyday option if you find our Mountain Garlic too strong.

Whole and unpeeled, exactly as harvested

We supply every bulb whole and unpeeled, with its natural papery cover fully intact. No polishing, bleaching or chemical treatment is done at any step — only cleaning and traditional sun-drying at the farm.

How we use it in the kitchen

Crack the shell, peel the clove, then crush or chop for tadka, dal, curries or a walnut-garlic chutney. Some people also take one crushed clove raw with warm water on an empty stomach, as an old hill habit — this is tradition, not medical advice.

Keeping it fresh at home

Store whole bulbs in an open basket, jute bag or mesh pouch in a cool, dry, airy spot, away from sunlight and sealed plastic. Kept this way, bulbs stay firm and fresh for around 5 to 6 months.

How to use

Crack the outer shell to take out the single clove, peel the thin inner skin, then crush or chop for tadka, dal, curries or chutney. Start with a smaller amount than normal garlic, as it is still stronger than ordinary multi-clove garlic.

Storage Instructions

Keep whole, unpeeled bulbs in an open basket, jute bag or mesh pouch, in a cool, dry, airy place, away from direct sunlight and closed plastic bags. Once opened, do not reseal in an airtight pouch — this garlic keeps better with some airflow. Stored this way, bulbs stay fresh for around 5 to 6 months.

Questions and Answers

6 answered questions

What is Himalayan Solo Garlic?

It is a genuine single-clove garlic, also called Ek Kali Lahsun or Solo Garlic. Instead of many small cloves, each bulb has just one whole, solid clove inside.

How is this different from your Kashmiri Mountain Garlic (Ek Pothi Lehsun)?

Both are real single-clove garlic, but they come from different hill farm belts at little different altitude. Our Mountain Garlic is from the higher, colder snow-line belt with a pink-purple skin and sharper smell. Himalayan Solo Garlic is from a slightly wider hill belt, bulb is a touch bigger, skin is golden-white, and taste is more mellow. We keep them as two separate products because the harvest and taste genuinely differ.

Is the garlic peeled?

No, we supply it whole and unpeeled, with the natural outer cover intact. You peel the amount you need at home.

Why is bulb size not exactly same in every pack?

This is natural farm produce, not a factory item, so a little difference in bulb size and skin shade from batch to batch is normal, and is not any quality issue.

How should I store it?

Keep whole, unpeeled bulbs in an open basket, jute bag or mesh pouch, in a cool, dry and airy place, away from direct sunlight and closed plastic bags. This way bulbs stay fresh for around 5 to 6 months.

Is Himalayan Solo Garlic used in home remedies?

Yes, like our Mountain Garlic, this too is traditionally crushed and taken with warm water, or used on skin, as an old hill habit in some homes. This is tradition, not a medical claim — please speak to your doctor before relying on it for any health condition.

Price is slightly on the higher side, but the quality of these Himalayan single cloves is noticeably better than standard garlic.
